I write this today because once again, I was on a manufacturers web site trying to configure a car the way I wanted. The color, the interior materials and color, the wheels, engine, braking packages and caliper color, the whole 9 yards. We truly are spoiled for choice today, yet I could not for the life of me, get he car the way I wanted.
It seems all of this choice we enjoy has meant that actually, we can’t get exactly what we want. How is that possible? I’m being facetious, I know how that’s possible and why it exists but it made me think that the aftermarket is way more important today than it ever has been.
Now, for many of us the aftermarket and SEMA has meant this:
or this:
and yes, taste and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Truthfully though if you want a car the way you want it, mild to wild, you will have to go to an aftermarket company to get it your way. Even with all of the choices now available directly from a manufacturer and or dealer, it just isn’t enough and no where near good enough.
I hate picking an item only to find out 3 or 4 steps further down the process that I have to delete my ealier choice because I can’t have black wheels and that awesome red leather interior together or I need the big and ugly wheels to fit my carbon ceramic brakes. It never fails, I always have to compromise something somewhere in order to get the car I ‘kind of’ want. That isn’t good enough for me!
Long live SEMA and a pat on the back to the aftermarket!
Maybe I should have put this up top?

It stinks that you can’t annotate pictures. Anyway... that last pic. So is SEMA basically a soft porn show with cars? I mean, those ladies tops are... ummm... spilling out?

Just put “SEMA girls 2016" into GIS and... damn. That’s a lot of boobs.
